North Dallas Wedding at The Rusty Barn at the Ranch in Celina: Sandy + Dennis

It's been a full year and I finally have a second to reflect on the Castro/Craig Wedding that happened in early October. I've been waiting for their ceremony to happen since their engagement session. Check out their portraits here! On a warm Saturday afternoon, a thirteen hour gig finally went into gear after months of preparing, exchanging emails, and hearing details about the wedding plans. And that was just us talking about the photography! It was probably one of the busiest weddings I've ever done. Not only was this a full packed wedding, their was also a huge football game happening in Dallas, and the wedding itself was set in several cities across the Dallas metroplex! Setting the stage for our couple began in the beautiful The Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe seated in the heart of the Dallas Arts District in Uptown.

You'll have to forgive me for cutting down the ceremony to only a few brief images. The full Catholic ceremony had wonderful elements like a Mariachi band, readings, traditional acts, and more. These were just a few of my personal favorites from that afternoon.

Ok, I had to explain why I didn't choose the kissing shot at always happens at the end. Believe me, that photo was just as sweet. There was something about them embracing each other afterwards that just shares this oh so sweet relationship that has survived through time. A rare thing to see in these days. They were high school sweethearts after all and they really show "AGAPE"-  which is Greek to mean "selfless love". (It's also the word that Dennis used in his greeting card to Sandy while she was getting ready for the wedding.) I think hugs are so powerful in so many ways. It's about giving love. Instead of just receiving it. And it to me showed just how happy the two were to officially make that love known before everyone.

The evening included some amazing things like heartfelt speeches, familiy shoutouts, cigars, and fireworks. To top the wedding, sparklers closed out the night. My favorite part though was the hashtag balloons for #craigxican (CRAIG + MEXICAN). Sandy and Dennis were definitely the VIPs and it was such a fun and crazy time! Many thanks to the the newlyweds and all the best in wedding bliss for many years to come!
