Welcome 2012!

A new year, a new me. I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you who have supported me in my endeavors of photography. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have you encourage, inspire, and push me everyday. Notice the new blog layout? I decided to change it a bit just to give something different. I also felt like the links before were all over the place and accessibility to each post was a little much. So here is to an even simpler and more carefree blog which highlights all my images. Also, my branding has changed. It has changed so much that I'm a little embarressed it has taken this long. I have dropped the "photographie" altogether in my name. I know that might raise confusion to others about making it clear who I am or what I do. But I figure, once the images pop up, there won't be a need to explain myself.

I realized going for a few days of not shooting makes me nervous. I get a little shaky right before photo gigs. But no longer! A photographic manifesto is about to take place. I don't ever want to put my camera down. I want to shoot something at least once everyday. I will shoot confidently and creatively. My personal style is defined. And I will never leave my camera at home. Opportunity.

I'm posting 2 images up. One, is my current self portrait. I shot this against the reflection of a window at night. I don't know what it is that attracts me to this image but I liked the stark contrast of light and dark and the pink that pops in the middle. I wrote a poem about the image called "Shifting" which goes into detail about the parallels of the image and my life but I'm too embarressed to post it =)

This is from the yesterday. This woman is 90 years old!! It was an amazing event to witness her and her family celebrate on the first day of the new year. I like this image alot. She looks happy, alive, and youthful despite her age. It's so nice to see how there are so many people who surround her that love and adore her. I hope I look just as good when I reach her age!
