Mais Brasil Por Favor

After two days of actual downtime, the following day was jam packed with special places to see. Like Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, the Tram to see Corcovado and Cristo Redentor was also really enjoyable. It's fun to go up higher and higher and actually have time to see everything at the same time. My friends had originally planned to hike it up but they won't let you unless you have a guide. You also have to pay to hike it. I'm glad we went the tram way =)

Everywhere you looked the sight is amazing. You really get a sense of depth and space here.

Because the Cristo Redentor is so tall, lots of people couldn't get the entire statue without having to lie down on the ground. I, too, had trouble. Unfortunately, when you carry a 50mm, your distance is somewhat limited. I had to cut off the hands =(   One of my favorite photos from the entire trip is this one below. 

After the tram, we drove towards the famous Brazilian steps known as Escadaria Selaron. Taxis technically can't take you there directly because its between an alley and a residential area. We stopped a block away from it to see the Sao Sebastiao Cathedral below.

If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll appreciate the right image below. Doesn't this statue remind you of the Deathly Hallows animation from the motion picture? It looks like the youngest brother =)

Graffiti is all over Rio but this one popped out to me the most. I love how bright and colorful Brazil is.

As you make your way up the steps, you can see unique and vibrant doors of homes that actually live right next to the steps.

 

Mais Amor Por Favor - More Love Please. Picture of a drink from Brazil? Not just any drink, I discovered this tasty beverage at a restaurant after my friends and I went to lunch. Many Brazilian restaurants do not have English menus. However, when they do have some, it is very terribly translated or loosely translated. I had chosen "orange soda" and Guarana was what I was given. It tastes like ginger ale with more of a fruity flavor. It was a go to drink for me that week.
